Reporter Christopher Siders was enjoying a successful career in print journalism and radio when a serious car accident turned everything upside-down. Alive but changed forever, Siders had suffered a brain injury that erased significant portions of his motor skills, cognitive functions and key memories. Starting over at square one, Siders bravely sought to re-learn basic activities and regain the life he once lived. His tumultuous recovery is influenced by four key relationships: his girlfriend who decides to leave him, his college roommate who offers his help to rehabilitate his brain, his father who is a negative influence and his psychologist who tries to guide him through the maze of questioning his own reality. In the end, it’s up to Siders to make a new life for himself in the face of overwhelming obstacles.

“In 2008, more than one million people in the U.S. suffered brain injuries,” Siders says. Many recover fully, while others have a lifelong disability. I wrote this book to enlighten and inspire others on this serious issue.”

Intended offer a valuable perspective on an oft-overlooked problem, the book takes readers inside the recovery process and reveals the countless challenges facing an individual seeking to re-learn the basic functions they have taken for granted.
